The Sterilization Assistance Program has been hit hard by the recession of 2009. In addition to a reduction in donations, Foundations have cut back on their grant funding, and veterinary costs have increased dramatically. As a result, the Trustees of The Oasis Animal Sanctuary have temporarily suspended the Program until March 15th.

Oasis has learned that the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation has approved a grant request for our Sterilization Assistance Program. The funding should be received in mid March, when the Program will resume.

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation is committed to making life more bearable for children, families and pets in need of a helping paw. With the sale of each full-sized Bearemy’s Kennel Pals ® friend – a collection of Build-A-Bear Workshop ® plush dogs – one dollar is donated to domestic pet programs including local animal shelters, stray pet rescue and rehab organizations, and pet education programs around the country. Instructions for Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program

 Are you eligible?

• Are you a New Jersey Resident?
• Are you 18 years of age or older?
• Is your taxable income $40,000 or less? (this is NOT your GROSS income or your wages.)

          if you have answered YES to all the above questions, all you have to do is:

1. Print and complete the application form. Click here to print. (Don't forget to sign the application.)
2. Attach a copy of your most recently filed federal income tax return.
   (Form 1040EZ, Form 1040A, Telefile Tax Record or page 2 of From 1040)
3. Determine the correct fee and write a check to "The Oasis Animal Sanctuary, Inc."

What happens next?
Once your application is approved, Oasis will mail you a voucher for each pet.  This voucher is good for 30 days and is non-transferable.  You then make the surgery appointment with any of the participating animal hospitals from our list , and bring the voucher with you the first day of your pet's surgery. The voucher covers the costs of the office visit and the sterilization procedure only.  Any fees for pre-surgical testing, vaccinations, etc., will be charged to the pet owner.  Oasis and the Veterinarian will take care of the rest!  If you have any questions, please call us at 856-262-1222.

Note:  If your pet(s) are current on their vaccinations, you will need to take proof of that with you to the veterinary hospital when you take your pet(s) in for their surgery.  If you do not have proof of current vaccinations, the veterinarian may require you to have them at his/her hospital, and they will administer the vaccinations at your cost.  Oasis will not pay for vaccinations, we pay only for the surgery and exam fee
